It is with a full heart of excitement I write this post.
I have dreamed of a children’s book, telling a fun story but also to include some lessons and tools to help guide our young girls into an exciting phase of their lives. After searching for the story, I had in my mind and not been able to find ‘the one’ I decided this would be my project to try and create a story to share.
I noted down all my inspirations and what I would like the story to include. All the teachings I wished to share. The vision of the setting I had in my mind as I dropped into the story. These notes sat in my computer for some time.
I then picked it up again sometime later, after being sparked with more inspiration and began to create an eBook that I could share online. It was simple and pretty. With the purpose of sharing with as many people I could, I wondered what it would be like to have this story as a physical book, instead of just online. It has been a dream of mine to publish a book but I never really had a story to write.
I was put in contact with a publisher who was very helpful in answering all my “newbie” questions. This lit a fire within me to carry this journey forward, keep it flowing. I just needed some pictures! I did contemplate drawing or painting my own, as I do love art.
After speaking with Holly, who I knew had published a book previously as an illustrator, about the process of publishing, I came back to her to ask her if she would consider illustrating for my story. I knew Holly was pretty full of workshops and life, but I thought I’d share my story with her and see how she felt about it, and if it didn’t align that was ok.
Holly’s first reaction of excitement and enthusiasm, the love of my ideas was so aligned and gave me so much more inspiration to carry this project out.
From there our project blossomed!
self-doubt
re-painting
loosing paintings
finding paintings
laughs
tears
goosebumps
excitement
critical thoughts
fear
joy
It was a very magical journey for us both. Holly has painted such beautiful illustrations that are exactly how I envisioned them, some even more so than I thought.
SO, our children’s book is nearly here. Available now to pre-order.
'Blossom' is the short story of Ella, a young girl who finds herself moody from the hormonal changes going on within her at the age of 10.Ella knows why she is moody; she also knows some things she can do to make herself feel good again.
Follow Ella as she takes a wonderful walk down to the gumtree forest behind her house and meets a beautiful red Eclectus parrot.
This is a story for young girls, to start them on their own unique and magical blossoming journey to becoming a young woman.

We hope you and your little girl (or boy) loves our story book as much as we have creating it for them.
